Hudson County Schools of Technology Frank J. Garguilo Campus High Tech High School

Hudson County Schools of Technology’s new Frank J. Gargiulo Campus combines the various branches of the institution’s existing North Bergen and Jersey City campuses into one facility, comprising High Tech High School, KAS Prep, and Hudson Technical.

The 350,000 s.f. High Tech High School is located on a twenty-acre parcel of land adjacent to the Laurel Hill Park in Secaucus, within convenient proximity to NJ TRANSIT’s Frank R. Lautenberg Rail Station. The complex comprises four schools of vocational education, as well as the Explore 2000 Middle School Program, organized around a core of shared activity spaces and resources.

The school consists of three wings that are centered around a two-story, sky-lit atrium. The atrium becomes the open mall that anchors the shared activity spaces and operating service areas. These shared activity spaces include the gymnasium; the performing arts auditorium; and the food service and banquet facilities, many of which are used for County-wide events. The layout provides for an open environment that supports discovery and collaboration, and each academy has an identifiable character that represents its category of study.

The facility also serves as a resource for both day and night class sessions, as well as a centralized location for the school’s administration offices, the District’s central school administration offices, a student-operated business store, and a wellness center. Its design accommodates two-thousand students and four-hundred administration and staff members, and also received LEED Gold certification.
