Valley Medical Group’s goal for this new facility was to remain at the forefront of healthcare delivery and access in order to ensure high patient satisfaction by providing a walk-in clinic at the high-end Garden State Plaza Mall. The challenge of this project was to develop a design that would most effectively take advantage of an underutilized, small retail space with a limited storefront area and transform it into a warm, inviting healthcare environment that improves patient experience. The approximately 1,100 s.f. space was carefully programmed to take advantage of the limited footprint, with space-saving design solutions that included the incorporation of a pharmacy merchandise display within the reception desk, which aided in the creation of this fully-functional walk-in clinic.
Valley Medical Group’s Garden State Plaza Walk-In Clinic includes two exam rooms, a clean room, a laboratory, service support areas, and a retail pharmacy. The design of the reception area was intended to catch the eyes of mall patrons through its elegant lighting, modern materials, and complimentary warm wood tones – evoking the welcoming and visually-engaging atmosphere of a spa-like environment, while tying in with its sophisticated surrounding mall storefront.
