The New Horizons Community Charter School is a highly-successful charter school within Newark, New Jersey, that required more room to properly serve its students and offer additional program spaces. RSC Architects’ design of a new, three-story, 21,000 s.f. addition addressed these needs, while increasing the school’s capacity from kindergarten through fifth grade to also include grades six through eight.

The new addition features the school’s first gymnasium; a music room; a performance stage; an art room; a resource center; computer, STEM, robotics, and testing laboratories; eight new classrooms; a lunch room; and toilet facilities. RSC also completed the second phase of this project, which added additional classrooms and lockers on the roof of the gymnasium to meet the school’s growing needs.
