The new Liberty Middle School will be a three-story school building on the former site of the Washington Elementary School that will alleviate the District’s overcapacity issues, allow for the continued growth of their Pre-Kindergarten program, and provide dedicated space for their grade sixth through eighth-grade students.
The new, approximately 64,000 s.f. school – the outcome of a successfully-passed referendum that RSC Architects coordinated with the District – will accommodate 250-300 students within general, specialized, and individual educational spaces, while also incorporating various site improvements and outdoor areas.
Modern and durable materials have been selected, with plenty of fenestration for the upper levels and a safe and secure ground level. Although the site is constrained, RSC’s design is able to accommodate a drop-off lane and an elevated plaza, providing a safe barrier between cars and pedestrians, as well as seating areas and a protected entry cover.
