With a recent rise in patients, Hackensack Meridian Health’s Jersey Shore University Medical Center required additional bed capacity for their growing O/B program, as well as added medical/surgical beds, in order to meet the community’s growing needs.
RSC Architects renovated and transformed three floors and 18,900 s.f. of Jersey Shore University Medical Center’s Ackerman Pavilion – which was originally designed in 1940 as patient rooms and subsequently used as administrative spaces – into labor, delivery, and medical/surgical care areas to alleviate capacity issues.
This renovation work has expanded the hospital’s capacity by forty additional beds, with twelve postpartum rooms and a nursery on its second floor, and fourteen private medical/surgical rooms each on its third and fourth floors.
