RSC Architects was selected by the Hudson County Schools of Technology to provide architectural and engineering services for the new Liberty Science High School, which is located within the SciTech Scity Campus and Jersey City’s Liberty State Park.
This new ground-up, 94,600 s.f. high school building will be constructed on a new development site known as SciTech Scity, a multi-phase project that will offer high-rise apartment housing, a STEM business incubator building (Edgeworks), and this vocational high school for Hudson County’s students. It will accommodate four-hundred students within grades nine through twelve and, as a vocational academy, its three envisioned programs will include astronomy and astrophysics sciences, sustainable engineering and climate sciences, and biological system sciences. The building will also contain many collaborative spaces, including a makers studio, a capstone project area, a visual art studio, outdoor classrooms, and several common areas.
From a larger perspective, the new school and its campus will serve as an extension of Liberty Science Center and will support its educational mission, anchored between Liberty Science Center and Liberty State Park.
