RSC Architects’ design team worked with Fairleigh Dickinson University to reconfigure and renovate several classrooms at their nursing school on the institution’s Metropolitan Campus within Teaneck, New Jersey.
The renovation work within this 3,500 s.f. space involved removing a partition wall between two classrooms in order to create a simulated clinic space that could house eight patient beds and a central nursing station. The end wall of the clinic was also replaced with a one-way glass partition wall, allowing for observations from the adjacent classroom/lecture room. Two existing storage rooms were also renovated with improved built-in shelving, and an existing pantry room was converted into a control station with a medical trough sink and one-way glass into the clinic classroom. Additional power was also introduced into the nursing station and the new medical console, and another clinic room across the hall received new flooring and other various upgrades.
