RSC Architects’ renovations to Jersey City’s historic, one-hundred-year-old Engine Company 19 reignited the facility’s functional potential and provided upgraded services, while maintaining its historic character.
As a part of the renovations, a new stair tower was installed, and the second-floor personnel area was completely redesigned so that the facility complies with the current building codes and accessibility requirements. The design also accommodates a new kitchen and dining area, with night watchman quarters, private offices, a personnel dorm room, toilet and shower rooms, and a lounge.
