RSC Architects’ design of this new building accommodates and expands upon Bergen Community College’s existing educational programs for the health professions, which encompass dental technology, nursing, radiology, surgical technology, respiratory therapy, and medical assistance. The dental program also serves as a working clinic, offering hands-on experience to students and affordable dental care to Bergen County’s residents.
This new $22 million facility was built on a greenfield site at Bergen Community College’s main campus within Paramus, New Jersey. In designing the three-story, 65,000 s.f. building, care was taken so that the facility blends in with the existing campus through the use of a compatible palette and materials that include brick, cast stone, aluminum, glass curtain wall, and composite panel systems.
This building has established a unique identity for Bergen Community College’s health-related programs. Its design reflects the building’s dual role as an educational and healthcare facility, with a clear delineation between the classrooms and the clinic areas. The building also features a prominent main public entrance and a central atrium.
