Perched on the cliffs of the Palisades, the existing site topography of Firefighter’s Memorial Park posed a unique design challenge. The new structure for the facility has half the site on grade reinforced by a steep retaining wall, and the other half of the park is supported on steel columns above a seventy-foot cliff adjacent to the Hoboken Viaduct below.

RSC Architects (RSC) designed the complex of pools within the park to include a regulation-size lap pool with spectator seating, a wading pool, and a water play area. Designed to showcase the spectacular views of Manhattan from the site, the public park area incorporates a landscaped garden walk leading to a gazebo with seating that overlooks the dazzling scenery.
