From Office Building to New Jersey’s Second School of Pharmacy
In order to create New Jersey’s second pharmacy school and the first associated with a private university, RSC had to transform an existing, three-story office building into the interactive, state-of-the-art learning environment that Fairleigh Dickinson University envisioned.
RSC’s multi-phased renovation at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Madison Campus involved converting a 60,000 s.f. empty office space into classrooms, labs (compounding, patient care, cadaver simulation, and infusion labs, among others), student activity/student services areas, faculty and administrative offices, a “mock” pharmacy, and support spaces. Flexible instruction areas foster collaboration, advanced audio/visual equipment promotes distance learning, and the salvaging of existing spaces and fixtures provide a value engineering approach to the creation of cost-effective workspaces. Altogether, this thoughtfully-designed, high-tech, and experiential lab prepares FDU students for successful 21st century careers in medicine.
