Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC) is one of two flagship Academic Medical Centers in the Hackensack Meridian Health System. In order to meet the growing need for critical care services and to renew aging facilities, HUMC intends to construct new critical care and surgical pavilion. The Second Street Pavilion is designed to improve the quality of care being provided, enhance its image locally and nationally, and provide a state-of-the-art facility in which to treat patients, teach, and work. The project comprises 24 state-of-the-art operating rooms; 50 intensive care patient rooms; 100 medical/surgical private patient rooms; and 50-bed orthopedic institute. The design also provides future flexibility for the hospital with shell space for an additional 25 intensive care patient rooms.
